UniTaipeiX is a port of freeware X Window fonts to Newton platform. Please observe the original copyright (see the enclosed BDF font headers for detail). This font include all the Big-5 characters (well, I hope) and all characters in JISX0208.1983 and Cyrillic characters. The fonts are down-sampled to 12 point, so that it can be kept as small as possible. UniTaipei patches the system font so that (hopefully) you can also use other languages in the built-in applications.
!! WARNING !!
Before you install this font, please remove the other font that patches the system font (notably UniTaipeiLite and old UniTaipeiX, or UniCJK?). It won't check if the other font patch is already installed. IT MIGHT HANG YOUR NEWTON IF OTHER FONT PATCH IS STALLED. !!! SO BE WARNED !!!
If you still get your system crashed, this might be a solution to get out of the dead-lock:
Press the reset button on the back of the newton, and then touch the top left side of the Newton Screen with the stylus. You will be asked:
"Do you want to activate the packages on the internal store?"
I didn't have any problem when installing UniTaipeiX, though.
